SUGAR LAND, TX — On Friday, the Texas House of Representatives acted to protect the children of Texas from horrific gender transition practices including chemical castration and surgical mutilation with the passage SB 14.
“In Texas, our children are sacred, and we refuse to allow them to fall prey to gruesome practices driven by extremist ideology. Safeguarding our children against physical harm is not a political issue; it is a moral obligation, and we applaud the House members who voted to protect our children from these terrible and abusive practices,” said Bobby Eberle, Chairman of the Fort Bend County Republican Party.
SB 14 prohibits physicians and other health care providers licensed in the state of Texas from prescribing or administering drugs and performing surgeries that sterilize a child for so-called “gender transition” purposes.
The bill also prohibits the use of taxpayer dollars to provide these procedures and establishes the authority of the Texas Attorney General to bring an action against a healthcare provider found to be in violation of SB14’s prohibitions.
“We thank State Sen. Donna Campbell for authoring this important bill and State Rep. Tom Oliverson for carrying it in the House. We look forward to final passage when Texans can rest easy knowing our state took decisive action to protect our future generations,” said Eberle.
The Fort Bend County Republican Party is committed to the mission of limited government, lower taxes, fiscal accountability and personal freedom. Our goal is to grow the Republican Party in Fort Bend County by reaching new voters, to advance our platform of conservative principles, and to keep Fort Bend County headed in the right direction.
