Whereas: The Republican Speaker of the House and the Texas House Republicans appointed Democrats to approximately 40% of the committee chairs in the Texas House of Representatives during the last session; and

Whereas: These Democrat committee chairs have the power to thwart Republican supported legislation and are enabled to push their far-left agenda; and

Whereas: The State Republican party has called for banning this practice of appointing Democrats as committee chairs in the Texas House and has called on Republican State Representatives to publicly state they will vote to ban Democrat committee chairs in the House rules; and

Whereas: The proposition to ban appointing Democrats as committee chairs which was on the March 2022 Republican primary ballot overwhelmingly passed with approximately 81% of the vote; and

Whereas: The delegates at the 2022 State Republican convention voted banning Democrat committee chairs as one of the eight legislative priorities; and

Therefore Be It Resolved: The Fort Bend County Republican party is on the record as supporting the ban on appointing Democrats as committee chairs in the State House of Representatives; and

Therefore Be It Further Resolved: The Fort Bend County Republican party calls on all state representatives, especially those representing any part of Fort Bend County, to publicly state their support for this ban and to vote for the ban in the House rules in the upcoming session of the state legislature.
