Happy Independence Day from the Fort Bend County Republican Party
SUGAR LAND, TX — The Fort Bend County Republican Party is excited to celebrate the 246th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. The American experiment was unique and improbable in 1776, when the American colonies defied Britain, the most powerful nation on earth at the time.
“It is an honor to celebrate the 246th Independence Day as Chairman of the Fort Bend County Republican Party. We have achieved so much as a nation, but there is still more work to do to ensure the fire of freedom continues to burn as a beacon for the entire world,” said Bobby Eberle.
The Declaration of Independence was ratified by the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The Second Continental Congress declared that the Thirteen Colonies were no longer subject to the monarch of Britain, and were now united, free, independent states. The Congress voted to approve independence on July 2nd and adopted the Declaration of Independence two days later on July 4th.
“As we celebrate Independence Day, I invite you to renew your sense of patriotism and declare your independence from those who seek to divide America through radical policies and leftist ideals,” said Eberle.
The preamble to the Declaration states: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government.”
“I encourage all Fort Bend County residents to celebrate safely with their families and friends and to always remember the individuals who sacrificed so much for us to enjoy our freedom. God bless America and God bless Texas,” said Eberle.
