SUGAR LAND, TX — Fort Bend County Republican Party Chairman Bobby Eberle issued the following statement denouncing County Judge KP George’s use of county resources to protest Senate Bill 147. The bill, put forward by State Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, would ban the foreign governments of China, Iran, Russia, and North Korea from owning land in Texas.

“KP George’s latest actions are both pathetic and disappointing, and they show that George is willing to resort to partisan political attacks at the expense of residents of Fort Bend County.

“Senate Bill 147, sponsored by State Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, is designed to prohibit the governments of America’s enemies from purchasing land in Texas. Instead of comprehending the national security and economic implications from such land purchases by countries such as Iran and North Korea, George plays the race card for cheap political points.

“KP George claims SB 147 is ‘blatant discrimination,’ but the question for him is whether totalitarian regimes who want to destroy America should be granted even greater access to American resources. The answer is NO.

“KP George continues to fail the residents of Fort Bend County by putting partisanship over security and common sense.”
