SUGAR LAND, TX — Fort Bend County Republican Party Chairman Bobby Eberle issued the following statement on the guilty verdict handed down in a Manhattan court against former President Trump.
“What we witnessed today coming out of New York City can only be described as the greatest abuse of America’s legal system in the history of our country. It is shocking to realize that censorship, intimidation, arrests, incarcerations, and politically motivated trials are happening in America. Actions that have previously been reserved for banana republics and third world countries are happening right in our own backyard.
“The left cannot win in a contest of ideas, so they seek to silence any and all opposition. Every single person, regardless of political affiliation, should be outraged by what happened today to former President Trump.
“My question for Fort Bend County Democrats is this: Do you support a party that would weaponize the legal system to silence a political opponent? That is exactly what is happening. The Democrats have become the party of open borders where drugs, gangs, and human trafficking are left unchecked; of massive inflation, staggering food prices, rising fuel costs, and housing that has skyrocketed; of boys taking coveted sports championships away from girls; of pornography in elementary schools; and so much more.
“For those Democrats who reject this twisted agenda, I challenge you to speak out and denounce what is happening to former President Trump and to our country. We are at a crossroads, and our entire American way of life hangs in the balance.”
