SUGAR LAND, TX — Fort Bend County Republican Party Chairman Bobby Eberle issued the following statement following the acquittal of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on all articles of impeachment.
“I applaud the Texas Senate for correcting the grave injustice that was put forward by the Texas House. Ideally, the Senate should have dismissed all charges outright and not given the House impeachment sham any credibility. However, with these verdicts, Attorney General Paxton can get back to fighting the conservative fight.
“The Texas House should be ashamed of its actions, and every single House member (especially Republicans) who voted for this bogus impeachment should apologize and refund the hardworking taxpayers of Texas. I thank the twenty-three House members who originally voted against impeachment and stood up for what is right. This was a political hit job, and had the House conducted a real, public investigation, the process would have come to an early end.”
