Republican Party Conventions
These are important functions within the Party soliciting the views and votes of Republican Party members.
Purpose of Party Conventions
- Elect Delegates and Alternates to attend the next convention level. Precinct Convention —> Senate District Convention
—> State Convention —> National Convention - Elect presidential electors from each congressional district.
- Discuss, debate, and determine party rules, platform positions, and legislative priorities.
- Elect party officers such as State Chairman, State Vice Chairman, State Republican Executive Committee members, and members of the Republican National Committee.
2026 Timeline
- March 28 Precinct and Senatorial District Conventions
- June 11-13 Republican Party of Texas Convention in Houston
Who can Participate?
- Registered voter in represented area.
- Affiliated with the Republican Party.
– Voting in the 2026 Primary Election.
– Must have voted in the 2026 Republican Primary Election or must take an oath of affiliation.
— (Cannot have voted in another party’s Primary Election or participate in another party’s convention process.) - And has been elected to serve at a previous convention.
– Excluding Precinct Conventions. - Precinct Convention – Open to all of the above. Come out and join the process!
- Senate District Convention – Must be elected as a Delegate or Alternate at your Precinct Convention.
- State Convention – Must be elected as a Delegate or Alternate at your Senate District Convention.
- National Convention – Must be elected as a Delegate or Alternate at the State Convention.
