DESCRIPTION:Texas Court System\nby\nJudge Chris Morales\,\nCounty Court at Law No. 1 \n\nChris Morales was elected as Judge of County Court at Law No. 1 in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022.  As Judge\, he manages a multitude of cases that impacts the daily life of every citizen in Fort Bend County. \nJudge Morales oversees cases involving probate & guardianship\, juvenile\, civil litigation\, eminent domain\, misdemeanor and civil mental health commitments. Most importantly\, Judge Morales also oversees Fort Bend County’s only Misdemeanor Mental Health Court\, a program designed to reduce recidivism rates among criminal defendants with mental illness. \nSince taking office\, Judge Morales has been instrumental in implementing new technologies in the courtroom that reduce taxpayer costs and ensure the courts evolve with the community’s changing needs. In fact\, when the COVID-19 Pandemic closed the courts\, Judge Morales’ previous planning and knowledge of virtual conferencing platforms allowed his Court to quickly adopt such technology to conduct remote hearings\, reducing the impact on Court operations. Since the pandemic\, Judge Morales has prevented County Court at Law No. 1 from experiencing a case backlog by implementing innovative procedures\, which are being adopted by Courts’ across the State. Furthermore\, Judge Morales has worked with the local bar association to introduce multiple continuing education events for lawyers and has worked closely with the Juvenile Probation Department for the youth of our County. \nJudge Morales is a lifelong resident of Fort Bend County\, graduating from B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg and Texas A&M University in College Station. He is married to his high school sweetheart and fellow Texas A&M graduate\, Vanessa Morales. He served as Judge of the 152nd District Court and the 334th District Court before joining the 14th Court of Appeals where he has served for the past 12 years. \nJustice Wise is very active in the service of the bar and the judiciary. He is a member of the Texas Judicial Council\, which sets policy for the Texas judicial system. He is also the Vice- Chairman of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct\, which adjudicates ethics complaints against members of the judiciary. He co-chaired a State Bar task force that conducted the first complete study of the Texas Court system since 1892. He served two terms on the Texas Access to Justice Commission. He has also served as a visiting judge in counties across the State of Texas. Justice Wise is an elected member of the prestigious American Law Institute\, where he focuses on the laws of policing and the law of American Indians. \nJustice Wise is an avid Texas historian. He hosts the award-winning Texas history podcast Wise About Texas which has been heard by over 1.7 million people in 165 countries worldwide and is ranked in the top one-half of one percent of podcasts worldwide by ListenNotes.com. Justice Wise is the President of the Texas State Historical Association and the Immediate Past President of the Texas Supreme Court Historical Society. DESCRIPTION:Fort Bend Republican Women August Membership Meeting\nTexas Republican Party Chair Matt Rinaldi\nState of the Republican Party of Texas in preparation for November’s Election\n \nChairman Matt Rinaldi represented northwest Dallas County in the Texas Legislature from 2015 to 2019. During his time in office\, Rinaldi was consistently rated among the top two most conservative members of the House by Rice University\, Texans for Fiscal Responsibility\, Young Conservatives of Texas and Texas Eagle Forum. Rinaldi was\, according to the Dallas Morning News\, “instrumental in strengthening the punishments in the sanctuary cities ban\,” and authored and passed into law measures that: remove from office public officials who adopt sanctuary city policies\, require government contractors and subcontractors to use e-Verify\, revoke pensions of teachers convicted of committing sex crimes against students\, allow churches to utilize volunteers to provide security services without risking heavy fines\, and prohibit any taxpayer money from going to Planned Parenthood. He served as the Pro-Life Whip for Texas Right to Life in 2017.Chairman Rinaldi earned his Juris Doctor with honors from Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from James Madison University.
